They have a separate option for "red panda"! Woohoo! Are wahs that common in furry fandom? I don't seem to see much furry art depicting them.

Also. From reading the questions, other than sexuality and specifically furry-fandom behaviour such as suiting or going to cons, I seem to be a stereotypical furry (aka vegetarian hippie liberal animal lover). This amuses me.

Well, maybe hippie liberal animal lover but I don't think vegetarian is that common. Especially among the 20 somethings, I suspect if you asked about food it would be very high on the junk food/fast food rating.

The emphasis on sexuality is inevitable, since the popular media have stressed it so much as to make furry equal to sex-fiend-pervert in the popular imagination.

I was a bit surprised to see more hetero than homosexuality, mostly because I tend to assume the 'stereotype' is homosexual. Hmh.

I also feel bad that I'm getting towards the end of the big age spike now and that I've been involved with this silliness for like 9 years now. I didn't realize how long it'd been until I had to look it up. :(

Stereotypes are almost always wrong. It appears that the stereotype about furries being sex fiends is also wrong.

As for the age bump, I think getting beyond it is probably a good thing. The most solid people I know in the fandom, the ones who make stuff like conventions, meets, and web sites work and keep working, are beyond that bump. It sure doesn't mean you have to "give up" on furry.

I suspect the age bump lies where it does more because that age group is most active online and therefore most likely to answer such a survey that appears only online. It's also true that furry fandom has only become really visible in the last 10 years or so, and mostly in on-line or youth oriented sources, so older people just aren't that aware or involved. That is going to change now as the "age bumpers" get older. Your chance to be a leader, Drel.

I did notice there was practically no mention of offline activities - there was "do you play RPGs online", but nothing like "do you play RPGs [or go to board gamer evenings] offline". ;D

The political and education stuff needs some interpretation for non-US folks, but it looks as if quite a bit's been refined. There were only a few questions I felt I needed a "none of the above" option.

I gave them a long harangue last year about experimenter bias in the answer choices, and US-centric questions. They could still improve a lot, obviously.

Sure. We're still a minority, just a bigger one within that particular subgroup.
